....a balancing act!

I can't believe its been over a month since my last ramblings!....so far 2013 has been proving to be a difficult year for my family and I am determined not to let it get the better of us!....so I have been a 'tad  busy trying to balance alot of things and trying to stay and encourage positive thoughts....which meant blogging has to take a back seat!

I just thought I'd sneak a quick blog while I should be sorting out some work....

Firstly the "Pop-up" gallery Laine & Co has come to a quiet and peaceful end!....the building is stripped back to the shell it was a year ago....our house is now bursting at the seams with all my studio stuff and the few pictures we had left....Kevin Mainprize (AKA hubby) was the last one to sell some work....you should have seen the look on my face!...I thought I had top sales for the week when with 15 minutes to closing he sold a lovely photo of Sandsend....ah well!...

It has definitely taught me alot not only about running a business but also about how as an artist, galleries and the public perceive art....if that makes sense?!

 ...So as the saying goes...
"as one door closes another one opens"...

...I just need to keep my eyes open and look for seek out new opportunities.

I'll take everything I have learnt and savour the positives and build on them....and there were many.

what next?...various things really...

  • Get my garden studio built and sorted in time for NYOS 13 which is in June...
  • Tidy the house and spring clean - just waiting for spring-like weather to prompt a response for that task!
  • Get some work ready for an exhibition at Zillah Bell also in June
  • Go beach combing!
  • Apply for some commissions I'm interested in....
  • Oh and must remember to renew my a-n subscription in April
  • Sort out agenda for workshops: bookbinding/making, assemblage boxes, and a request to make memorable rag dolls like "the Lil' Horrors!" I made with Paige.....
  • Anything else!....oh yes....go and see if this gorgeous "boat in a bottle" is still for sale....
Just lovely...not essential but I really want it!
...I'll try for more regular posts in the next few weeks...
...as my hubby says "I'm very trying!?" ....cheeky!

 happy reading
